Separating tones in Notifications

I have been unable to figure out how to separate e-mail notifications from text messages. I would like to hear only the text message tones. Can anyone help this less than techie person?

Go to your email or text messaging program you use and go to the settings of the program. You edit the notification settings there for each particular application. Any questions just PM or write again! Good luck!
