Safe to use any USB cable?

I have a USB cable that's made for the Sansa Clip. I believe it's a USB A to mini-B 5pin cable. It seems to mount and work fine with my Eris, but would this cause any damage to the phone?

I've been using my old Blackberry cables and charges all around. No problems here.

Same here, I've got several old USB cables from other devices that fit into the Droid. My opinion, if it'll plug in, then use it...

I am not a electrical engineer...but since it is just a cable...they should work fine. it is getting the correct power from your PC / Laptop.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
