He wasn't my cup of tea either but I took my then significant other to see him during his Purple Rain concert tour and it was amazing. The guy was extremely talented I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him perform live. He played a guitar solo that rivaled any of the great guitarists.

Wow. Same sentiment here from me. Didn't particularly care for his sound, but respect him as a popular artist.

FWIW, the former pro wrestler Chyna passed away too. She was only like 45.

Too young on both accounts here.

Regardless of if we liked his sound..he was the little man that stood up to big labels..and his song writing spanned 1500 songs supposedly.. His talent helped shape some great musicians and some terrible ones too.. Way too young...I agree @Jonny Kansas..
Chyna...man..idk what to say about her...Joanie was a hell of a good timing person if you ever met her...I had the fortune once..she was at a local bar in Billings Montana after the event. I also got to meet a few others that night .

Not at 74, but he's no longer using a cane like before, no limp etc, still backpacks in the Sierras etc.
