Why can't I set a different ringtone or notification tone

you're going to need to use an app from the market to change your ringtone

this is a known issue that will probably be cleaned up on a future release

Astro file manager worked the best for me .. tried to use one of the market ones but it kept putting my phone on silent :-/

Used Astro for notification's?? I looked all through that and see nothing??

no just ringtones sadly .. the other programs i used worked fine for notifications but when i set a ringtone it would set it to silent instead .. was weird

Browse to the audio file that you would like to use using Astro, long press the audio file itself, select the "Music Options" selection, and then select "Set as Ringtone". You should be set.
