Are there any realtors out there using the moto droid, and if so what apps would you consider must have for you daily use?

    Thanks

Not really any apps per say, but having MLS Wireless as a favorite site and using Google calendar synch'd to the Calendar app on my Droid, makes life much more organized for me. :)

I've looked at a few mortgage calculators, but I haven't found one that jumps out at me. Have you used any?

I'm adding a comment just in case anything pops up. I was hoping to find a business calculator app, but I haven't seen anything yet. I'm also hoping to find a good contact management application that can either work on its own or sync with a computer contact manager.

    Supra E-Key

I just spoke with Supra and there is no provision for e-key on the Droid. The operator couldn't tell me if/when a solution will be available and couldn't tell me how to communicate my request to decision-makers at Supra...anybody have any more insight?

I'm not going to migrate from Blackberry if I have to go back to that air key or whatever they call it.

Google will not give GE (owner of Supra) access to their program so that they can design an integrated keypad. That is what I have been told.

Thanks Kevin. I'm certainly not a developer but aren't there like 10,000 aps for this phone? Seems like a pretty open OS. Do you know of any way to let google know how many realtors there are who are interested in this phone. Seems like they might want to get the e-key before Apple does for the i-phone? I'm just sayin'

agreed, but rrom what I was told they have to go beyond the Shared amount of the OS and Apple or Google are not willing to do that ... wouldn't it expect anytime soon! But I am hearing rumors about the iphone and verizon in the near future!

the ekey is a drag ... but the Droid far out weighs any inconvenience! I went from a Windows Palm phone (4+ years) to a Blackberry (a month or two) to the Droid. The Palm was great for not having to carry an extra key for Real Estate, but the phone over time became ancient. The Blackberry seemed to be very fast on the internet compared to the palm but had to have the extra bluetooth converter. Now with the Droid there are so many apps that help in the business and the internet is lightening fast! Using all the Google tools is much more efficient! The Navigation is amazing! It is like a little mini computer. I used to bring my laptop everywhere I went not anymore, the only thing I cant do with the droid from the laptop is print contracts and I'll bet now with zipforms I could do that with my portable printer and droid! I would consider it ... oh yeah if you are into social media, you take a picture, and within 30 seconds it can be on facebook!

I read on some other forum that everyone was emailing Supra here:

    suprasupport@ge.com

and asking for support and letting them know how many are in need of this.

    I own a Droid also.

While I am not a realtor, I have found "safe neighborhood" very useful while shopping for a new home. It lets me know instantly about any registered sex offenders nearby. That is a big concern when having small children.

I am not an agent, but I work in the industry. I know several agents in my market that use their phones to open the Supra keys. They complain about the cost, but they all say it is better than keeping up with the separate transmitter

I'm an agent and my Droid replaced a Blackberry 8330. Since all my email accounts, calendar info, and contacts all live in the World of Google, moving to the Droid was like coming out of the dark ages.

I don't know how much you've delved into the GPS, but if you're logged into Google Maps on your computer and search for an address there, on your droid you just need to enter the street name or just the house number and it will find it. The syncing between Google Maps and the Droid is unbelievably convenient.

    Other random apps:

LoanDroid - quick and easy loan quotes
Bluetooth File Transfer - use a lot to transfer PDFs with listing info when going to show properties.
Documents to Go - to view those PDFs
Missing Sync - Syncs selected folders with my Mac. At any time I can access all the documents I have regarding any given transaction I'm in. This is huge.
DroidLight - helps when showing boarded up properties
    MyBackup Pro - self explanatory
Pandora - for long hours of in the car
SMS Backup - sends all text messages to my email account for archiving
YouMail - alternative to Google Voice. Lets you select specific greetings for specific callers. The default outgoing message reads the caller ID so that when YouMail answers the phone your caller hears "Hi Joe, Paul can't come to the phone", etc... in a professional sounding female voice.
CustomCarHome - lets you customize 3 screens of 8 shortcuts for when Droid is in the car dock. Far superior to the default Car Home.

I'm a property manager and Google Maps is very handy! I used my computer to create a personal map with all my properties (120 of them) and then I can quickly pull up the whole list on my Droid.

Karl's Mortgage Calculator is the best financial calculator I've found, and it's free.

AndiCar is an excellent FREE tool for tracking business mileage. You can log in the start/stop odometer, use the GPS, or just enter the total miles driven. Then enter a date, time, and purpose for the trip (not necessary). All the data is stored and you can export it to CSV for importing into an excel spreadsheet at tax time.

Zillow is a great FREE program for looking up properties for rent. Start with a great map showing all available properties for sale. Click on one and you get a pop-up with image, price, and basic details. Open it and get a detailed look, along with scrolling images! I haven't yet found a property in my market that was on MLS but not on Zillow.

I'm still looking for a program to sync contacts between Outlook 2007 and Google. In fact I'd settle for any program that could sync contacts between my Droid and Outlook! I could export them as .csv, then import to excel, then copy to my Droid, but this is time consuming instead of auto-sync and I really don't want to scroll through 200+ contacts in an excel file. If anyone can find something for this, I would sure appreciate it!!!
