Really Slow

So I have a droid incredible 2 and before I had this current phone I had the original incredible. I've had the incredible 2 for about 6 months now and for the last 5 months or so it acts up on occasion. What happens is that the phone gets extremely slow. I can barely open up the phone and do my unlock code; if I'm lucky I can get through that at which point it becomes nearly impossible to use. It's so slow that I cannot use text messaging or open apps, as well as scroll through the various app pages. I uninstalled advance task killer,moved all non-essential apps to my SD card, and removed the "mail" app's account. While it did improve performance, it is still very slow. Any ideas to stop this? Is anyone having a similar problems?

Go into recovery and delete JUST /cache. Then delete all your SMS messages you don't need. That should help a lot.
