Picture contacts disappeared

Now using ICS ... Desktop Favorates went away.

Now that I'm using ICS version of OS, my desktop icons went away. They were there for the first week of ICS, but are gone now. Went to Contacts and selected Favorites and looked at each of the four individuals I wanted to be at the top of my now empty home screen. All had the "stars" (upper right corner) in white (which I thought meant "selected") ... alas, nothing on home screen.

Can anyone help me fix this?

Now that I'm using ICS version ...

I still can't get it to work on ICS ... Yikes !!:angry:
