My Droid has been functionally good up to last week, but after a re-boot(disconnected battery) I am still getting a "No Service" with no bars, just a single star in the strength box display at top of screen. Updates say up-to-date(Vers. 2.2.3,build FRK76). Battery appears good. I am not sure what to do next..any suggestions?

Have you tried toggling Airplane mode? Have you rebooted since this 1st happened?
In Settings---About phone, what does it list for a baseband?

Thanks CJM, after a 2nd reboot(battery disconnect), my verizon wireless service came back, 4-bars strong. I did toggle the Airplane mode, but it was off initially. I also checked the WiFi Mode which was enabled. Still not sure what shut down the service, but it's all good now. Thanks again.

Sometimes a battery pull will do the trick to fix little problems with the phone when nothing else as worked.
