I'd like to take a moment to introduce a new specialist writer that we have added to our staff. His name is DroidModderX, and he specializes in articles about custom ROMs and mods.
He will be writing some exclusive articles for us. His writing talent ranges from the typical product announcements, to full-blown 'how-to' walkthroughs. What makes DroidModderX an asset to DroidForums.net isn't just his writing skills, but also his technical knowledge about his subject matter. He doesn't just write about this stuff, he also digs his hands into it and actually practices it constantly.
He comes with a pretty good pedigree of credentials for our relatively young industry. He started modding about 10 years ago with the original XBOX, before the 360 was even a blip. This developed his courage and ability to try new things, which he eventually transitioned to his first smartphone, the HTC Touch. He quickly learned how to replace the WinMo on the device with Android, and has been deeply involved in the Android modding and ROM industry as a hobbyist ever since.
His motivation comes from a desire to assist folks that are intimidated by the rooting and modding process. I know that much of this description fits many of our forum members as well, so he should fit right in. The big difference that makes DroidModderX stand out is that he also has a passion for writing and helping out others. Being that multi-talented is a rare find indeed. This update is built on a modified GB 2.11.605.3 base and includes lots of new tweaks, mods and theming... and of course the security hole fix! In case you aren't familiar with the ROM, it includes some neat features: an animated pull down notification bar, themed apps, new phone icons, BAMF toolkit, and too many other things to list.
It should be noted that the install script will auto wipe your phone so be sure to make a backup before flashing. But, I know... you would do that already anyway.
