is Beats on the Rezound a piece of hardware or just software?

It's just software. It's an interactive Equalizer (I have an EQ in my car) that turns up the bass on Pop and such, while turning up treble and more higher-pitched sounds for things like Rock.

I don't think it can be ported to the Nexus(mainly because I haven't seen someone try and succeed, not because I have some kind of evidence), but I know for a fact it can be ported to almost any HTC device.

the stock google music app has eq built in. when you're playing a song, go to setting and then sound effects and enable eq to change toggles.

Yes, but when changing the eq settings in V+, nothing sounds different.

Mine works when changing the eq settings. Are you rooted? Maybe that is the difference?
