is Beats on the Rezound a piece of hardware or just software?

It's just software. It's an interactive Equalizer (I have an EQ in my car) that turns up the bass on Pop and such, while turning up treble and more higher-pitched sounds for things like Rock.

I don't think it can be ported to the Nexus(mainly because I haven't seen someone try and succeed, not because I have some kind of evidence), but I know for a fact it can be ported to almost any HTC device.

Theres nothing to port. All it is is eq settings. Download any music player with eq settings and you can get the same effect. The video at the bottom of this review shows you whats actually happening with the software

the stock google music app has eq built in. when you're playing a song, go to setting and then sound effects and enable eq to change toggles.

Yes, but when changing the eq settings in V+, nothing sounds different.

Going from "Good Quality" or "Treble Boost" it sounds quieter.
