Is a little lag normal?

Is dialer lag normal?

Trying out MIUI with the stock kernel. One thing that has been bugging me is that the dialer has a bit of lag and doesn't keep up with me when I dial numbers. I'm assuming this is due to it matching contacts to the number. Is this normal? If so, does it go away after overclocking? I'm really trying to avoid using an OC kernel if possible so I can maximize battery life.

I installed MIUI late Saturday night then added Slayers kernel. I notice that when I change things (icons from screen to screen) my phone lags. If I turn it off then on the issue is resolved. Not sure why but my sense is there is so much going on the OS needs time to catch up.
