Anyone notice hitting the space twice sometimes inserts a period and sometimes inserts random words?

And yes, I verified the option in keyboard settings was enabled.

I've tried multiple settings changes and I am still getting what you describe. Drives me crazy.

I think im going back to froyo. Don't really see any change to battery life and the keyboard issues make typing a real pain. Shame too, since I wanted GB and I wanted it now, so to speak

I have an X with Gingerbread, however, on Froyo and even with my D1 I'd get a period when hitting the space bar twice. I believe the OS looks at a double tap of the space bar as being the end of a sentence. With Gingerbread, the system seems to try and anticipate your next word, 98% of the time it's incorrect (and rather funny). Have to remember to proofread now before hitting 'send'.

Thanks for the tip. Somehow I missed that setting. I am however still having problems with the keyboard not lighting up when I unlock the screen in a dark environment. The keyboard stays blacked out until I shine the light sensor at a bright object and then back to a darker area.

Anyone else?

Go to settings, language and keyboard, multitouch keyboard, then scroll down and uncheck next word prediction. And no more double space words.
