Someone with leaked ICS may be able to help with this question. When your phone gets ICS, given that the ICS launcher has a home, back and menu button, what happens to the phone's native buttons? Do they become extinct, can they be customized, or do they continue to work the same?

Devices with hardware buttons continue to use them, the software "buttons" are only for phones that lack them. If you look at screenshots of the leak, you will notice that the on-screen buttons are not present.

Hehehehe... or maybe good timing, lol or just maybe a dedicated post. But gee, I may even start a thread again. Except usually I can find the answers I'm looking for (or the questions I would ask) already here.

Thanks for the encouragement 94¡

Now, I have even more questions. Dave may be able to help again.

If you already have hardware buttons like on the Razr, do you have a choice to also include home screens with the soft buttons if you preferred them or do they just not exist? It would be awesome to use the home screen buttons and customize your hardware buttons for your favorite apps.

They would / could only be present if you are running a custom ROM that includes soft screen buttons - when DroidTh3ory was porting the AOKP builds you could have soft screen buttons...however, with the actual leak of ICS it will be as bens says - there will be no softscreen buttons...
