After looking at the HP stream I feel like having an os like windows, that can handle off-line programs, is a better choice than chrome. What do you think?

Looks like a great piece of hardware and the fact it's running Windows is another plus.

Chrome OS never had a really huge following and was pretty limited on features and capabilities. I had that test unit CR-48 and tried to use it during my school days, but it just never had what I really wanted. I haven't looked at ChromeOS since.

Asus is a better buy @ $20 more. It has 4G RAM and a 500G HD

None at the moment as none are available yet. Till then, I see no reason to purchase anything new since Windows 8 is such a disaster for Microsoft.

There is the Asus Transformer Book V... But MS and Google don't like the idea of an Android/Win machine

My next pc will be dual boot Windows 10/android 5 netbook.

Most Android apps already run in Windows if you install Bluestacks on your PC.

Actually 8.1 works great on my SO's laptop. I'm a Win 7 man myself, but 8.1 fixed a lot of the problems with Win 8, and I really like it. You have the option of making it look like 7 as well as combining the features of both versions. So we've been quite happy with it since updating.

We bought my gf's dad a Samsung Chromebook because he is a truck driver that needed more than just his phone. Well, he has since stopped driving. We paid $169 for it. I was quite pissed when I saw the Stream on sale for $200 (I think).

I told him if he didn't like it I would return it, with plans to buy the Stream.
