Please excuse the following newbie questions but I have not been through an update before so I don't know what to expect or what, if anything I need to do to prepare for it.

Do I need to back up any data, contacts, etc? I understand that information on the SD card should remain unaffected.

Will my current apps show after the update and will they work as before and have the same settings/configurations?

Email accounts (Pop3 and Exchange) and contacts listings?

If the update goes badly, can I perform a factory reset and revert back to Froyo?

Thank you in advance for helping a newbie understand this update process.

You should sign into your gmail on the computer to make sure all your contacts are backed up in Google. All your purchased apps are backed up by Google. Backup everything from your sdcard to your computer just in case. A factory reset can usually be performed but I have never done it with a stock device so idk how it works.

Hopefully the update is bug free. I am prolly going to take it since I think this phone is fine as stock unrooted.
