How do I delete the text from facebook chat?

I see hwere I can close the conversation but no where to delete what is in there. When u bring it back up, the texts are still there. I have tried force closing the app thru settings to no avail. The only way I have gotten it to work was logout which uninstalls fb and reinstall. No way that is right. Help please.

I am having the same problem. I can close the chat but the next time I go in it appears again.
