How can you tell your driod eris is 2.1 leaked or 2.1 root

i was rooting my wifes droid eris and put the img.zip on the sd card followed the steps and when it said do you want to update i hit yes
is wiped all the data and contacts from the phone and in the info it said 2.1 under firmware ...so what happend is it the rooted or the leaked because the guide i was following that was just the first step so now im confused should i go on or am i screwed ...... and does the phone save the contacts to the sd card ?:blink::angry:

when you log back on to google it will restore your contacts. I've been trying to get a better root for mine, but had a scare today...so I think I am done diving in depper water than I know how to swim.

to check if you are root do this

adb shell
su

If the path changes from $ to #, you have root.
If you have $, it probably means you are running a leak.
