Head Phone control (or lack of).

I have a droid 2 (Ver.2.2) and all is fine except I find that the head phones don't allow me to FF or RW or have Volume control. I have tried 6 different phones and none work. I called Motorola direct (via Verizon) and they said yes, that is a correct observation and quickly disconnected me. Does anybody know if a fix for this problem is in the works.?
