Try to take the battery out and plug it in to the charger and if it works fine then its a problem with the battery but it sounds like its more than that. Maybe try to re-unroot and do that over again

I have an og droid and when I pull the battery and plug it in it works completely fine. May be different with the incredible. And if it just abruptly turns off and not the whole shut down process then that could be something like the battery getting lose, something similar to that. Did it work fine when you re-rooted?

Is being a stock a MUST for some reason right now? If not, you should try to root it again and see if the same problem is there. and if it is, then it could be hardware related and probably with the battery. Maybe check to see if the little conductor parts (whatever they're called. The metal things) where the battery and phone connect are scratched or messed up.
