droid 2 just goes to black screen

Dude on craigslist has a d2g for sale and said don't know what's up..wife said it went to a black screen after she charged it..its not bricked because he doesn't even know what root is...any ideas what it could be? He aslo got mad when he was offered 25$

P.s....no water damage and the pics look like its mint condition
