I am thinking about getting the Thunderbolt.

My question is:

Can you have the charger plugged into the phone while changing the battery and not have the phone shut down?

My current phone (Droid) shuts down when I pull the battery even though it's plugged into the USB charger.

I'm hoping the TB allows you to change the battery without having to reboot the phone.

Thanks,

In a word....No. It seems it needs the battery to complete the charging circuit.

It's too bad phone designers have gone this route. That was a nice feature on my older phones. I could have a charged battery ready to go and swap it out with the phone plugged into the car or home outlet and not have to wait for the phone to start-up.

Agreed and I don't know what the reason for change was. Someone with an electrical engineering background would need to come into this thread and answer. Then I'd really be lost :icon_eek:

I wonder if it's the hardware or could it somehow be in the ROM to act like this?
