I just picked up an X2 and successfully rooted with gingerbread. I've also been trying to get rid of some bloatware. Somehow I can't look at any of my contact data, or even text some people.

How have you been removing the bloatware? If your freezing it, unfreeze anything that has to do with Authentication.

    Programs like:
    Yahoo Mail Authenticator
    Twitter Authenticator
    Skyrock Authenticator
    etc....

I froze many of those and had the same issue.

The data comes up blank or the apps don't work? If your contacts are in gmail can you see them on the web? If you make a new contact on the web does it not show up on the phone? Might be a syncing issue.

When I try to read contact numbers, it comes up with a white screen that just goes back to the contact list after a second. I uninstalled a few of those authenticator apps with titanium, can I just restore them?

You should never uninstall system apps like that, always freeze them. I would try to restore them, have never restored a system app before so not sure how it will work.

You can try that. You also can restore your phone to how it was just before you made the changes that block your contacts too. You did make a backup right away, right? If not and if the restore doesn't work then you could just wipe all data to restore the phone, or reapply a rom if you did that. Keep making backups and you make changes. Then when the phone works how you want it to get rid of all but the most recent backup.

I did make a backup of everything before I uninstalled stuff. I'm trying to restore the yahoo mail authenticator app and its just sitting on the loading screen, not sure if it's going to work.

So the hard reset didn't seem to work unfortunately. Could sbf really work?

I don't think hard resets do anything other than remove any data on the phone. An SBF should work, not sure if there is an SBF out for the DX2, have not looked personally.

Perhaps someone could explain what an SBF is and where to get it for the DX2?

I used Titanium backup to remove some system apps that I shouldn't have, now i can't view my contacts. I thought I was doing the right thing by using TB to backup the data but when I attempt to restore the backup Titanium Backup shows a popup window that says its "restoring the app" with a spinning gear but it never works. I end up having to restart the phone to get it to stop.

So will this SBF file help fix my problem?

    Thank you

After a few days of research and communication I found the fix for this problem. I did not need to use the SBF file, although I think I see the value in this file as it appears to serve as a last resort backup.

This thread details the fix that I used.

A recap to my problem: I used Titanium Backup to delete apps that caused my contacts not to appear and go back to the home screen when I attempted to view them individually. I had deleted amongst other things, the Yahoo Authentication app.

Is this list still considered safe? I created the typical problem when I deleted Yahoo Authentication, but I also wondering if deleting backup assistant will cause a problem? Also, I thought anything with blur in the name was dangerous to freeze?

What are you current thoughts on this list?

The quoted list on the 5th or 6th post is fine. Just don't mess with yahoo contacts or what ever it's called. It's not on the list but people see yahoo and think, "I can't possibly need that", when in fact you do need it.

Also while using a sbf will work, it's a bit over kill. If you deleted a system app like yahoo, to restore it just find a system dump that's been uploaded (there are several on almost all the forums) download it, find the apk and odex files, put them back on the phone, reset the permissions and reboot.

If that's to daunting for you then the honest truth is you probably shouldn't be messing with deleting system apps in the first place. Unless of course you like learning, most devs started out not knowing anything, breaking something learning to fix it, learning a bit more and more. Now we look up to them.

This happened to me and my Droid X2 right out of the box. I've not found a solution yet.
