Apps the auto run?

So whenever I leave my phone to its own devices for more than 30min, the next time I use it the lag sets in, so I open up advanced task killer and lord behold I have like 10 apps running without me wanting them to. I understand why weatherbug would be running but its others like backround, market, discovery, and sometimes even my BofA app.
Any advice? Can I stop this without uninstalling them?

No Replys? Disappointing - Need to stop apps from auto running

I have the same problem. There must be some way to stop applications from automatically getting started in the background. Something similar to unix inittab. There are just some applications that have no business getting started up, although I'm sure the developers thought they were special :icon_evil:
