I think this is all I did:

Backup (External)
Toggle Safe boot
Wipe Data
Wipe Cache
Mount System
Format System
Wipe Dalvik
Install Zip from SD Card (External)
Reboot System (Resulted in Black screen with button lights on for 10+ mins)
Pull Battery
Power On
Stuck at Boot ani (10+ mins)
Pull Battery
Toggle Safe Boot

Previously I had Bootstrap + CWR installed. Uninstalled Bootstrap prior to installing Safestrap.

To everyone with it working properly, are you on the 893 leak?

Can anyone post a link to the older versions? I want to see if I can get them to boot.

I'm hearing on rootzwiki that if you install alpha 1 first and don't format system before installing alpha 3 it boots fine.

@IRawd not sure you can format /system with it mounted. That's the only difference I can see from the procedure I used.

I'm not having any problems with it boot up fine on first try. I think those who are having problems should start over from scratch:-

1. un-install Safestrap recovery
2. delete Safestrap backup from SD
3. re-install Safestrap recovery
4. power phone off
5. power phone on
6. when on Safestrap boot screen press menu to get to recovery
7. when in recovery make a backup before toggling safe mode on
8. toggle safe mode on
9. format system under "mounts menu"
10.wipe data/factory reset
11. wipe cache partition
12. wipe dalvik cache
13. install rom

To flash a ROM:
1. Make sure the ROM .zip file is on your SDcard
2. Reboot and access recovery as above.
3. Select Safe System
4. Turn on Safe System (this should take a few minutes as it is copying the userdata to an unused partition)
5. Power off and reboot into recovery (have not verified this is acutally necessary)
6. Select mounts and storage
7. Format /system
8. Back to main menu
9. Install zip (your ROM) from SDcard
10. wipe data (in main menu)
11. wipe cache (in main menu)
12. Reboot (should take a good while to boot, up to 5 minutes)

where are you guys getting alpha1 from? I've looked around rootzwiki and th3oryroms.com and can't seem to find it. I'm attempting my 2nd install of alpha3 and want to try alpha1 if this doesn't work
