LOL Damn I remember my first computer was a Tandy TRS-80 color computer version 1, not long after that I built my first 8080 IBM clone with 64K of ram dual 5.25 floppy drives. It was so excited when I got my first 5MB hard drive! Who remembers those intel 512K above boards?? I have been building them ever since!

My first computer was an Apple IIC, with a whopping 128K of RAM. First and last Apple computer I've ever owned. My PC during the DOOM days was a crappy 486-25. Had to run DOOM in a little postage-stamp size window to get a decent framerate. Since then I have built my own and overclocked.

I had one of the Quadram boards to go from 256K to 640K. Had to manually populate it with DIP-packaged DRAM ICs. 54 of them (48 for memory expansion, 6 for parity) 8 bitsx6 ranks + 1 parity bit/rank.

EDIT: each DRAM IC was 8KB in size.

See, you SHOULD have gotten a 386-40 instead of a 486-25. The 386-40 played DOOM very well at full screen IN high detail mode.

Remember MODEMs. I was really kicking when I upgraded to 1200 baud. No internet (Al Gore hadn't invented yet). My kids complained when the cable modem was only doing 1 Mb.

Oh hell yea!

Who actually setup the original doom via IPX and triple monitor?? huh! That was a trip! of course you could not do multiplayer in that mode.
