wifi tethering

Just got grouped into the shared plan by big red. They said that tethering is available now but i have a rooted phone and could do that anyways. However, i want to know if i tether with root is it using up my minutes or using my data, ive heard both sides but id like a more definite answer

It uses data. Lets say you watch a movie via netflix on your phone. You are using data. If you tether your tablet to your phone and watch the same movie, your phone is simply the portal (modem) for your wifi tablet to use that same data. Minutes are only used when using the phone to talk (but who the hell does that nowadays right lol).
