Wifi Hotspot apps

The first app said i wasn't allowed to use the hotspot because i didn't set it up with verizon. I then used another one that said nothing about it and worked perfectly. It's called SVTP Wifi hotspot and USB Tether. Anyways, will this charge me extra on my bill? Is this actually a free way to use something you have to pay for?

As far as I know you should not be charged anything if you did not need to set up the Verizon hotspot.

There are apps that enable you to use wifi hotspot without using vzw's software, and then they shouldn't charge you. You can also root your device and do a hack, it enables you to use the wifi hotspot from vzw and still not get charged.
