Hello,

While I really enjoy my Galaxy Nexus, I am stumped trying to solve my connectivity issue. Here's the problem:

  • Using the WiFi my GN connects to both a WEP and WPA/WPA2 routers at my father in laws.
  • The strength seems to fluctuate using both (WEP & WPA/WPA2).
  • The settings show that the GN is connected, but in both cases when I open up different webpages I get no connection.
  • No connection using Google Chrome, Google, Firefox or Opera

***Wifi bars are gray...active

NOTE: I can access all apps, browsers work, email etc. using my data 3/4G)

My gmail and yahoo mail also (as you would expect) not update.

The signal shows that it is connected, but why I have no Internet access I have no idea.

My GN has been excellent connecting to free access points for months now. This issue is completely new as of Thursday evening.

Attempts to Resolve

  • Tried to access open Wifi spots - no success
  • Turned off avast antivirus
  • Removed the battery
  • Router rebooted

Using data (3/4G)*I can access all programs

In advance, thank you for your help.

Scott

I have this happen in my den. My wireless surround sound system interferes with the signal. The phone/laptop shows connected, but it can't transfer data.

I have tried

Yes, I tried to see if it was the signal and stood next to the router where there would be no interruptions, but without success. My s
ister-in-laws iphone 3 works on the same router, so I know that it isn't my father-in-laws router, nor mine when we checked my router last night.

Hi,

The anlayzer confirmed that my router has a very stong signal, and my phone is picking up the signal.

Here are some technical details to assist in the diagnosis of my Wifi - Internet connection problems.

I am rooted using GNexus-root-package-FYA with Superuser pack.
ROM/Kernal combo - 3.0.8-gaaa2611 android-build@apa28 #1

Other possible important information

Android version - 4.0.2
Build # - ICL53F.I9250OUGLA4
Mobile network type - UMTS:3
Signal Strength - -103 dBm 5asu
