WidgetLocker +*~+*~+*~+*~+*-- WOW!!!

When I press the on key the unlock screen comes on for a few seconds and if you don't unlock it in 2 seconds the screen goes off.

On a phone without WidgetLocker what you describe is true.

With WidgetLocker instead of seeing the standard lock screen you will see WidgetLocker instead, which does not have a 2 second time out because it's not the standard lock screen. So it will use the system settings timeout. (2 minutes or whatever)

In some rare cases, you will see the standard lock screen first, then the widgetlocker, in this case it might time out after 2 seconds. Turning the screen back on again will then have the full system settings timeout, not the short one.

[edit]Should be the same on any phone, but also I did most of my testing/development on a Motorola Droid.[/edit]

I'm tempted to buy it but I can't think of anything I would use it for since I can unlock the phone easily and get to everything I need... I suppose it would look nicer but I'm not into themes and the lock screen is only up for a second normally.

It's a rather good idea though for those who don't want to slide unlock.

Widget locker + (insert favorite home launcher here)+ quick desk = awesomeness lol.

Just as an observation. Sometimes widgets (pure widgets) have setup screens and I find that the native lockscreen pops up before you can input settings. Is there anyway around this or is this a limitation if android's lockscreen?

I'm thinking it's a limitation of the native lock but the dev will probably know better. jonkyu can you find where the apk is stored for quickdesk? i always keep a copy of stuff from my phone on my computer (just in case) and can't seem to find that one grrr

Like you mean after installing it on the phone? Shouldn't it be on the /system/app folder? Or you mean a copy of the .apk? It's on the market now, it's where I got it lol. Faruq tweeted it was available today lol. If that's not what you mean I'll try to find a download link lol.

Ah I see what you mean haha lol! One hint I've found is that I think it automatically installs itself on the sdcard partition. So you could try looking on your sdcard! If not you could try moving it back to the phone partition and finding it in /system/app/ :)

Edit: never mind, what I was reporting here is what you already described above.

Widgetlocker + sweeterhome + quickdesk = pure awesomeness :)

+1 - i'm glad you mentioned quickdesk. I have all my direct dials on there and love not having to unlock my phone to make a quick phone call :D

I have quickdesk set to long-press search (LP is my default home), and it works fine when unlocked. But when in WidgetLocker, it won't recognizes the search button press right away. After fiddling for a bit, if it's awake and I open the menu, then go back to the lockscreen, it typically recognizes the long-press on search and opens QD.

But that renders useless (for me) using QD to direct dial when it takes longer to get QD open in WidgetLocker than to unlock the screen...which kind of sucks, because I am liking this combo...
