why do i never have more than 8-10% ram available? o

My DROID x always shows 49ish mb of 490ish total available... can anyone point me a little bit in the right direction to better understand this? Im thinking that this may be the reason my phone is sluggish occasionally.

The way linux based operating systems work is by managing the ram not just leaving it free. And Martin you can use a taskkiller to see what is using the memory - but don't leave it running on the phone - it is well documented to cause more harm than good.
