Ok, so has anyone been able to just "apply" this update manually?? I've been at it all day and I just want to know how to apply the update through adb sideloader

Like stated, that's not true. Once you are rooted it will always show you were. It may show that you currently not rooted but the 2nd number will always prove you once were.

Second number?is that somewhere besides the service menu? I've asked hash to look into this for us.

Not possible.

Yes it can. If you have Rooted showing in the ##PROGRAM menu you CAN clear it by reverting to ICS (it will still show rooted). BUT taking the OTA update to JB in a used rooted status CLEARS the ##PROGRAM check so it will say unrooted. Trust me I've done it a lot. It will work the OTA update clears that check as long as the phone isnt rooted when the update installs. Doesn't matter if it was rooted in the past. The check in the boot loader/ qe1/1 still shows though.

I was told by a VZW tech as long as the phone returns stock regardless how it once was they will make no bones about it.

Ok guys, here's what I got right now.. seems to look like my temp. Unroot isn't working right through voodoo, after hitting temp unroot and checking root checker it says that I'm unrooted.. could it be possible that I should also check the temp. Unroot box in SuperUser??

I think that's where the confusion lies. It may show it cleared in the programming menu but like you said in stock recovery/bootloader it still shows it. They will check that if you need to return it most likely.

Here's the thing... If you try to update, and follow all the proper steps and if it doesn't work. The immediate solution is to START-OVER COMPLETELY> that is put the device back into AP Fastboot and Run the Utility step 1. Just like I have outlined so far in the [TOOL] Easy Root Komplete thread, I started on this last night updating the thread with errors found, after the confirmation that 4.1.2 can be downgraded> I started over. I have root restored and 4.1.2. Good news is the Entitlement hack is the same didn't change, which I'll update that thread tomorrow and get to the Bloatware Removal thread shortly as well.

If you can wait a few days... the OTA should be available, everywhere....

So 100% the 4.1.2 CAN be FXZ/SBF to ICS/JB, With the root tools?

With all the problems associated with messing with the software, is the supposed improvement in usability worth the hassles? Why not just leave it stock? Does the browser work better? Do VOICE Calls sound better? Does the camera work better? Music apps? Gmail? What is the return on effort/risk?
Blur is not the garbage it once was... easy to get used to... it works.

I just can't stand to see all those preloaded apps that I'll never use in my app drawer. That's reason enough for me to root.

I unfortunately cannot confirm that after updating to 4.1.2 that it is possible to downgrade via the DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility 1.10. As this DID NOT WORK FOR ME, I had been receiving odd Google error messages, which I then decided to run the Utility in which on my device I received a message that read:

fastboot reason: sticky bit fastboot
usb connected
downgraded security version
updat gpt_main version faailed
preflash validation failed for GPT
Partition (boot) security version downgraded
preflash validation failed for boot
partition (system) Security Verion Downgraded
preflash validation failed for boot
partition (system) security version downgraded
PIV block validation for system failed
Invalid PIV image; system

Which the Utility failed, my device rebooted in stock 4.1.2, and I lost Root. For reasons I cannot explain, I rebooted my device, was able to go into Safestrap and restored a version from yesterday of 4.1.2 with Root. I cannot explain how this happened, other than superuser was still in the system. I am convinced this device is fried!

I was on rooted 4.1.1

Used OTA Root keeper and manually updated to the leaked release last week (or was it earlier this week? i can't recall now).

Restored root and everything was working great. Then i got ballsy and started messing with my build.prop file. No custom recovery so no backup whatsoever. I must have typed something in wrong and screwed up my build.prop file because after the last adjustment i rebooted and got a black screen after the M logo. I'm able to get to fastboot and recovery, but neither do me much good. I tried pushing an update.zip file with the stock build.prop but that failed. Then i tried Flashing the 4.0.4 fastboot and got the same error as kachow. and same with 4.1.1 sbf.

i tried forcing an adb shell but windows won't recognize the phone as an ADB device while its black screened. its obviously not getting past the boot sequence. i modified one of the adb device drivers and was able to access the device via adb. but when i try to do an adb remount it fails saying i don't have superuser access.

according to xda, the 4.1.2 sbf should be live soon at Droid-Developers SBF so i'm hoping that'll allow me to unbrick.
