VZW shipping me a new phone with FROYO !!!!

Never posted before, I have just been sitting back for months listening and learning but I have to get this out there........my phone is bone stock with the few apps as needed to work with.

Never had any problems or issues not even once from the time of purchase last fall to May 27 when I received the update.

After the update I lost notification LEDs, music files would play for different periods then lock up the phone would shut down and reboot itself, phone would turn itself on, alarms were not playing so I was late to work, maps and navigation would not lockup without multiple restarts and it had a shortened battery life where previously at the end of a moderately busy day I had 60-70% left I went to 30% or a recharge would be necessary at 14-16 hours.

VZW had me do a battery pull, then a factory reset, then sent me a replacement phone. Within 3 days of activation I was losing 3g at the VZW store, battery at 30% in a few hours and no maps or nav with sight of a tower. They replaced the battery.

Now the wifi is losing lockup and trying to reconnect and it is killing a fresh charge with 5 hours.

2nd level Tech is now sending a new replacement with FROYO when a week ago they said that was not possible.

That's is not true. I recently got a new DX *COUGH* 4th phone in a month. The replacement phone they send u has gingerbread. 596 stock. I had 2 froyos and 2 GB after release. The only way u can get froyo back on is if u reflash ur droid. Which is what I did so I can root then do my custom roms and what not

Forgot to say that u can actually use the previous Gingerbread updates before .596. I have no problems with. 573 or. 588 updates. Plus the issues u had with the current update I had as well they r known common issues. From what Verizon rep told me

What's not true? That Verizon could send you a Froyo X? Sure they could. They have the ability to flash just like we do.

fade to scene II..............

.............where I either leave the Verizon store with a phone that is not gingerbread or leave in handcuffs, because I was sent a replacement phone with the gingerbread OS............just to say also that I really like the gingerbread UI very smooth in comparison to the froyo..........but I need a phone that works consistently like previously, last night for example I went for an hours without 3g, 30 minutes of which I was on the phone with VZW tech

Why not spend 10 minutes and flash back to Froyo?

Rocko,

Maybe so if I can be led in some fashion to the details of this process........but I am normally reluctant to do such things because as a rule I do not buy new cars to replace the engine........and I generally defer watch repairs and transmission repairs to those more qualified than myself. But I could give it a shot, I have only seen reference to scattered details of this process at this point, honestly I don't have a clue.

In the meantime I have been to busy to get to the VZW store but the rep. that I talked with last night called and offered a consolation to me because of the issues with the X, her solution albeit not very well thought out was to early upgrade me to the X2 and she would be more than happy to allow me to PAY FOR THE UPGRADE, that did not end well at all.

Rocko is right atireman. I would rather learn to fix my things to the point where I tried EVERY POSSIBILITY to make it work correctly before I listen to a Verizon rep. Personally I use Verizon reps as last resorts. The sbf. File method works. I have done it numerous times and has yet to fail. (knock on wood) it doesn't hurt to try if u just got offered an early upgrade. Its easy. Just try it : )
