voicemail alert is annoying

ok new to this site and the droid2, have pretty much figured it out though. only problem is i want to turn off that annoying ring sound i get when i have a voicemail. i did a search with not much luck. im ok with the notifications, just want to silent that alert without silencing phone. thanks for any help

Are you using GoogleVoice as your voicemail? If no, use it. If yes, go into GoogleVoice and hit the menu and then settings, and turn off notification sounds or change the ringtone sound....

im using "my carrier" which im assuming is the stock voicemail? thanks

I have verizon, and I want reminders every 15 minutes for missed called/voice/texts. How do I set this up? Can I use the google you recommended with verizon?

google voice is a visual voicemail app on the market, its free and it lets you read your voicemails, play them, and download them as an mp3. have you gone to menu, settings, sounds to change or disable it?
