Voice search not working after rooting and froyo 2.2

Hey folks. I was hoping verizone was going to release froyo 2.2 in the sometime distant future...LOL. So i decided to root my motorola droid and update to 2.2. I had no problems doing this last night. Love the speed and live streaming now.
Few problems now. Voice search has stopped working. Every time I go to search for something, I get a force close on it. I went into the manage apps and cleared the data and cache and still no go. Is there another work around for it?

On earlier version of KaosFroyo such as v35-36, I was able to solve this problem by installing Voice Search from the Android marketplace and that resolved it. Now that I'm running KF v37-38 I am unable to manually install Voice Search from the marketplace and fix it using that method.

The initial voice search will usually work fine, but if I hit the microphone button to add more voice dictation, (to the body of a text or email for example) I get force close of the app every time.
