Will pdanet pro still work with verizon. Dont want to purchase it until I know for sure. Me free one quite working. Verizon rep told me they blocked it but the full version would work. I have come to learn the reps dont always know what they are talking about.

Never ever talk to verizon about things like rooting, roms, hacking, or free tethering!!!!!!

Pdanet free still works from my phone to my gf's laptop. Only thing that sux is a txt or call disrupts the data transfer

She is actually a friend off my wofe so it was kind of "under the table". She said it didnt work on hers anymore then mine quit like a week later. Maybe I will try again.

I downloaded the free version of PDANet on 2 droid 2s and 2 PCs and it worked great for about a month. Now one of the PCs say the free trail is up and it blocks all secure sites (basically worthless) but both droids work fine still on the other PC. Verizon may not have blocked it, it may have just expired.
I tried removing it from the PC and redownloading it but it said the same thing again.

This is my bet -- it's pretty hard for Verizon to block ALL PDANet activity, since it's all client side.

PDANET is not a free program. The Trial will allow https for a short period and then you need to pay for the full version to continued access to secure sites.

It is not worthless as it does work as prescribed.

If that's even a concern, why don't you just download barnacle or wireless tether? I have wireless tether and it works excellent.

Play a jam!

I tried PDAnet....Same issue as the Wireless tether in that it drops a lot and can be a very slow, inconsistent speed. Probably why VZW claims the D1 can't tether - it can but just not of high enough quality for them to advertise/support it.

Doesn't really matter any more. With LTE I can't imagine VZW ignoring people tethering gigs and gigs every month. But I think (hope) people with occasional, limited use will continue to be ignored.

You mean a vwz person told you not to use it and let me guess, told you about the $20 a month service they provide? Lol. At least she's doing her job.

I rooted and wireless tether. I have used easytether pro in the past and still do on occasions at hotels where I want a secured line to surf porn....er...I mean check snails. Lol

After about a week my pdanet (free) works again. I can surf internet and stuff just fine, so I don't know for sure what was going on. As far as wireless tether I ended up putting Z4 on with the free wireless tether and that seems to work great... so far. Thanks for the input!!

I have seen a problem with windows7 and the D1 dropping connections tethering but it's not a problem on Linux or Windows XP. I suspect some kind of driver issue with W7. The D1 tethers fine, I get between 1.75 and 2.2 Mbps.

Well, there you go - I'm running Win7 and trying to tether with D1. Thanks for the insight.

Do I have to open Wifi Hotspot app in order to use Wifi Tether? I'm rooted with WFT installed, just need a Wifi adapter for my computer and should be good to go. Just need to clear that up. You do not have to open hotspot app, correct?

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App
