Using router as a repeater?

Anyone using an old router as a repeater for mifi or a hotspot from their phone? I have a wrt320n that I am trying to convert but need some help. Need to extend the signal while I'm at a certain part of the house.

There's gotta be somebody with a repeater or signal booster for their hotspot... I'm getting great 3g.

Thanks for the link dez. I think I can do that hack, but am still wondering if I can do it without internet? It says to to use an ethernet cable, but not that I have to have a working modem with internet. I was hoping to get into the router settings just by hooking it up to the computer. Probably gonna have to go to a friends house and hook it up to their network.
