USB mounting

The other day I went to mount my droid to my computer and it won't pull up the option to mount and constantly comes up device unknown. I went onto motorola's website and re-downloaded any and all drivers they had listed on the site. Phone still charges fine through charger, anybody have any ideas on how to fix or should I just take it back to verizon?

Never installed any drivers here....

Try a new usb cord?
Try a different port?

I tried using my dares usb cable as well as different ports already, still no go. I've got a feeling that my connector might be messed up cause my car charger wont work now either.
