Update version 2.2 for Galaxy S - Fascinate

Should have been quoted:

Let he who has the perfect phone cast it my way!!!

No, the Fascinate will get the update as well, sooner or later. And two months now, there will be a board for the Thunderbolt full of people complaining about that phone too.

Let he who has the perfect phone cast the first stone...

Ive actually noticed my battery lasting hours more with the new update. Just have a standard and was constantly having to charge in the morning in the car on my way to work on the way back home and at night but now by the end of tge day i still have maybe 75% of the battery left on a single charge. I love this update. Even without froyo at this time i still say best phone on the market.

I also agree that my battery is lasting several hours longer than pre-DL09. Another change is when I do a "System Update" with Wi-Fi on, the phone now turns Wi-Fi off, checks for an update, and then turns Wi-Fio back on. Neat.

... I have a symbol in my notification bar ... Its causing my YouTube widget to be disabled. It diamond shaped with a crosshair inside and wiring lines coming off the right side...

It's just the notification that (one of the) Location Services are on (probably just GPS), has absolutely nothing to do with YouTube or network connectivity.

You can turn it off under location and security.
Either I'm doing something wrong, or I can't turn off the crosshair. I've turned off every location checkmark possible under Location & Security, and also under Privacy. Any ideas?

It is a new law requiring that 911 location service stays on all of the time. That is what the little crosshair thing is. When you see the little "wifi" lines on the right of the crosshair, that means your full location service on, which you can toggle on and off.

Is there a new law? I know that I can turn my location off. The cross-hairs lose the "wifi" arcs to the right. From what I can tell, the cross-hairs will always stay, but the "wifi" arcs will display the status of your location settings. If they are there, you have at least on location detection setting activated.

Yes, it is a new law. If you'll remember, before the update u could turn off 911 location and the crosshairs would go away. Now your crosshairs will stay on, signifying 911 location service is active. With the "wifi" bars on, other applications can use the location information.

you can never turn off the Location services on any new cell phone. Johnny Law is always watching you. Its even against the law to activate an old phone that doesn't have these abilities..... havent you seen Jack bauer?///

Anyone hear anything yet bout froyo......... I know that everyone heard about the T-Mobile's....

I'm really jealous..

8pened!

A provision of the Homeland Security Act. Judge Napolitano actually outlines this in his book Nation Of Sheep. They can even evesdrop on your conversations if your phone is turned off.

America. Land of the free, right?

If they can really listen to your phone, leave it by a computer speaker and stream porn all night while you sleep, so they think ur a beast.

Otherwise, having a hardware tech background I call bull****. Its not a valid ability. As the hawks we are on battery usage we would notice.

I would think the most They could do is listen to our digital calls on the backend. That's more realistic. But try the porn thing for laughs.

And Jack Bauer is a freaking fictional character. I sell sport optics and night vision and I would love nothing more than to strangle the morons thru the phone who want night vision to act the same as the green camera filter they use on the TV show. It doesn't work in the real world like you see on 24. That show is such a crock of crap.

macguyver was the real deal. He could take out a 3rd world guerrilla army with a paper clip, pack of gum, and a light bulb.
