Update version 2.2 for Galaxy S - Fascinate

Well, the Samsung Vibrant owners will start receiving 2.2 tomorrow, and will last for weeks. It shouldn't be too long now.

The Fascinate is not getting 2.2. Accept it and start saving for the HTC Thunderbolt.

No, the Fascinate will get the update as well, sooner or later. And two months now, there will be a board for the Thunderbolt full of people complaining about that phone too.

I am a VZW employee and was at our Regional Kickoff meeting today. At the vendor fair I asked the Samsung representative when 2.2 was coming for the Fascinate. He said that 100% it was coming within the next two weeks. I told him I wasn't going to hold my breath. He pulled out a fascinate from his pocket and told me "Seriously, two weeks. I have been waiting since this sucker got released. It's coming."

I am still not holding my breath.

From what I gather though is that once 2.2 is updated then 2.3 is a much easier transition and should also be expected by the summer. I just want Flash damnit!

This mourning when i powered on my fascinate i started receiving a large update but it didnt alert me to it before it started downloading. Then after about 10 minutes the phone rebooted and before the samsung screen animation loaded the phone went to the screen with the little droid guy and all the update file commands and then it rebooted again. when i went to check my system info i couldnt tell what it had just done. Now some of my applications are out of order. Did anyone else get this?

Is that why there is a little symbol on my top toolbar that looks like a cross hair with wifi lines coming off and i cant connet to anything or make a call?

Actually the update has zero to do with VZW. The ball is completely in Samsungs court. Think about it. If VZW was really making the manufactures configure the updates a certain way and meet certain guidelines before they release 2.2 then why is Samsung MONTHS behind everyone else? Everyone else got on board; the Droid 2, Droid X, Droid PRO, htc Incredible have all had the Froyo update for months. Samsung is dragging their feet for the entire Galaxy S series with every carrier, not just with the Big Red Checkmark.

So don't indirectly call me a liar. lol

I have noticed this too. I even have an extended battery and now I am having to charge a bit before the end of the day. weird. . .

Since I received the dl09 update this mourning I have a symbol in my notification bar that wont go away. Its causing my YouTube widget to be disabled. It diamond shaped with a crosshair inside and wiring lines coming off the right side. Anyone know what this is?

It's just the notification that (one of the) Location Services are on (probably just GPS), has absolutely nothing to do with YouTube or network connectivity.

You can turn it off under location and security.
