Unlimited data on Verizon going away by the end of the year!

I still have mine! Lol battery life sucks though. I'd abandon post also. Not before moving my two upgrades on to my dummy lines and getting a HTC one and maybe a moto X.

I definitely don't want to be wifi dependant.. We shall cross that bridge when the times comes.. Most reception is good here in NY (well I hear complaints from Sprint people).. I've had a Verizon phone since it was analog...

I guess if I switch back to this one I don't have to worry right? Low on data usage.. Hehe

If you're still under contract though and they kill unlimited data, you can drop them without paying any fees. I'm assuming they will be killing unlimited for those who are off contract only, otherwise they would lose a lot of business from contract customers dropping them fee free.

By then there should be no one under contract with unlimited. Unlimited ended July 6 or 7, 2011. I know this because I bought a phone the day before the unlimited plan ended back then. Anyone that has upgraded or opened a new like since then would be on a share plan.

I never thought I would give up unlimited data. But the numbers and usage did not work for me. Wife and I use about 6gbs/month. With her corporate discount, it just didn't make sense to keep unlimited. Been through two billing cycles. First one I pushed hard to use 6gbs and just about got there. Last month I left a gig on the table. Things might be different once my wife is also on a lte device. She is on WiFi at home w/her i4s.

There was a "trick" to getting unlimited in late 2011. I got my Bionic in November, with 4 gigs of data via the double data promo. This was my first smart phone, coming from a feature phone, and unlimited data was no longer an option when upgrading. If you signed up for mobile hotspot through Verizon with a LTE phone, it defaulted you to unlimited data. Then you could cancel the hotspot feature, leaving unlimited data intact. I still have my bionic and my unlimited data for now, my contract is up in November.

When I got my Bionic on Sept 12, 2011, I upgraded from my OG Droid. My unlimited plan from that went to the Bionic. I understand when I leave my Bionic that will change.

But ya see....4 gigs to some is nothing...I recall seeing users posting 84 gigs in a month...wow...but on top of that. .....

Have you noticed that tons of apps are moving to cloud based storage???? Some manufacturers are moving away from micro SD cards in their devices..

Cloud storage alone will make people chew bandwidth to access the cloud...

So its all a point to make you spend more...

Cloud storage should be "backup" storage onlu.. Not in place of your sd card!
Why redownload over and over something you could store locally?

They are hoping they can do away with sd cards and create a cash machine on the cloud .... Yea right... Don't think so.

Another reason I don't like apple.

This is strictly rumor. Even if true, why would I jump to TM or Sprint when they have absolutely ZERO coverage in my building at work, where I go between 3G and 1X on my VZW phone. Unlimited data would be awesome if it were available when I'd use it 40+ hours a week. I use my data at work because we are blocked from all internet sites on our work computers not tied into our job.

as it stands now, you wouldnt loose your unlimited data if you buy a new phone out right instead of using an upgrade. they cant force you into the new contract if you dont use an upgrade.

Totally rumor mill information.

If "unlimited" goes I will go also. A basic phone to text and call from and a wifi tablet will be fine for me. Basically Verizon is telling you that you have to use someone elses data to conserve "their" network is crap.

That's what I'll do too. Back to a cheap basic phone.

Ahh.

OK, my contract ends in September. Upgrade means that I get my phone now (as opposed to getting it when my contract ends)? If that's correct, then if I get a new phone in September or November I can still have unlimited? Assuming nothing changes from "as it stands now."

-If you use the subsidized price, the non full price, you will lose unlimited.

-You can keep unlimited data provided you pay full price.

-You may also add a line, pay the unsubsidized price, change the phone to your primary line, change the additional line to a basic phone and pay the additional line price for two years.
