Unable to add address to existing contact in Google Navigation

Google changed the "Add to Contacts" button in Navigation to "Add as a contact", which gives me no option to save to an existing contact and always saves a new contact even if the contact already exists. Am I missing something? Why would they remove this option? I didn't feel it was too complicated, so I don't think they needed to remove this functionality as an attempt to make it less complicated.
