Troubles with unzipping files

Hello all. So, im having trouble extracting files. Files are for rooting my D3. I've rooted the D1 with no problem but a crazy thing is happening. When I try extracting files, its either corrupted, empty or needing a password. What gives? I have even downloaded a couple of different unzip programs but I can't even open or run them properly. Any hints/advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

are you extracting them on your computer?
if so... i've used winrar for years

I use Winrar also. 7zip should also work

Winrar. Dang why didn't I remember. I tried 7zip, no good. I used winrar to root my D1 last summer. I will give it a shot. Thanks guys.

UPDATE. My Chrome Internet shorcut, which has been my regular use, was not allowing the files to unzip. If this makes any sense? So I tried Internet Explorer. Downloaded files and extracted with no problems.
