Trouble Restoring Stock Rom

I was trying to restore a back up rom from Clockwork recovery, but I keep getting the message 'Error Formatting /system'.

Problem is I removed the PG05 file from the phone to get into clockwork with the sdcard, in a failed attempt to use a backup I made. Is there anyway to get it back on to the phone from hboot?

Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I still have the Auto-root program, is there any way to use it for restoring the PG05 file?

Edit2: What if I bought a SDHC card reader then replaced the PG05 file? I don't think my computer supports SDHC, but could I access the card if I had a reader?

even after the failed restore, you should be able to boot back into the ROM. once booted up, you can re-download the file and move it to the root of the SD card. but this should only be done with a radio and not the full rooted RUU (i believe)

i am a little confused...there are 2 things you can do.
but i have to know if you are trying to get back to MR1 rooted (that is where your phone is after you use the auto root process)
or do you want to go back to completely stock, un rooted?
where you would be before the auto root process.

getting back to stock rooted....
seems i cannot find the MR1 rooted file. but MR2 (which is better anyway) is here

flash in clockwork recovery, just like a normal ROM
and in case you are not on MR2 radio already, you can get that here:
[RADIOS]MR2 and MR2.5 radios - xda-developers
rename to PG05IMG.zip and place on root of sd card.
power phone off
hold power and volume down
it will ask you to install after a minute or two
hit volume up to say yes to the install
power button to reboot when finished.

getting back to stock unrooted
download the file here

rename file to PG05IMG.zip and place on root of SD card.
power phone off
hold power and volume down
it will ask you to install after a minute or two
hit volume up to say yes to the install
power button to reboot when finished.

you just unrooted your phone and put it back to out of the box stock.
