Sorry, I wasn't too clear :
The black bars are on the outside borders of all the screens as I scroll through, not just on one particular screen. For example, I have 4 screens and the border is in front of screen one and after screen four, but it shows up as part of the screen under the visible icons

Try setting the margins to NONE in your settings. It should be under Nova Settings > Desktop > Width margin/Height margin. Give that a try.

Did you reboot your device after downloading the new launcher?

I did a restart; I did not turn it off and turn it back on

Just did a shutdown and restart. Still same results

OK, problem looks solved. I was looking on the xda-developers forums under a wallpaper problems thread and there was a suggestion to reapply the wallpaper in order for it to scale to the launcher. BINGO!!

I always using Trebuschet launcher but i'm not sure if you can manually and succesfully install the apk file on TW
I'm on AOSP KK 4.4.4

Why don't get custom recovery and flash an AOSP KK ROM ? Or maybe soon a Android L Rom ?
