to root or not to root??

2 questions:

1: What will I accomplish by rooting my Samsung Fascinate? Is it something that I can accomplish myself or should I not bother attempting it?

2: If i decide on rooting it, how do i accomplish this? What are the steps?


I'm new to the forums and was looking on here for these answers but wasn't successful. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advanced.

That's just the thing... I don't know how to root the device. Or better yet, i don't know if i should even root it. Will my phone be faster? Cause as of now, the phone lags a lot.

There is more to root after roooting it installing a rom after the root process could make it's heck ofa lot faster or make it slower but you should root your phone and are you on 2.1 or 2.2

rooting it is simple but installing a rom/installing a rom is the hardest part but it gets easier use a online tutorial if your not forsuee

Installing new roms isn't hard...its pretty simple but takes a while
