Tired of complaining about the Pre-Loaded Apps? See how to take action today!!

Nope and I dont expect we will know their decision for awhile. Ima guess after getting a bunch of complaints it will be brought up at a shift meeting. If it continues then the shift supervisor will tell his manager. And if it still continues the manager will bring it up at a managerial meeting. Eventually it will continue to go up the chain if it becomes such a nuisance that they are afraid it may hurt sales. This is probably the same with motorola, but motorola have more to lose the verizon. Verizon can advertise the heck out the iphone and just tell customers to switch to the iphone, they still will keep the customer and the data plan and that is all they care about. Motorola on the other hand loses out completely so that will put motorola in a bind and hopefully force their hand to do what it takes to keep the customer buying motorola. Motorola is not the only one on verizon with the droid line and they are not the only one in the android pot so they must compete with devices running similar o.s. as well as with apple. The decision makers from motorola will budge before verizon just cuz they have more to lose.

Yep I think this is exactly how it will work. Makes me want to apply for a management job at Motorola...
The best we can do is keep at it.

sparty569: So a blockbuster app is essential for the Android operating system to run?

Rhea: Yes

Rhea: And we could not remove that as well.

sparty569: that does not seem like a smart decision on Google's part. To depend on a 3rd part application for the Google Android OS to run.
*snip*.

This is such bull**** I think it may be news-worthy. Do these people understand they are representing a multi-billion dollar comapny? "a blockbuster app is essential for the Android operating system???" Every tech journalist knows that this is nonsense, anyone here no a tech site author? We should get this on the news somehow...

So, VZW's answer to complaints and lost sales over bloatware - bloatware they themselves push - would be to promote a phone without their bloatware? That doesn't really make any sense.

PC,

I will be replying later, but I just want to make you aware of the fact that Moto isn't "going down the tubes" in any fashion. They are a very large company with their hands in many locations.

They have cable boxes, cell phones, Symbol devices, and those are just a few. Its just another example of another large company not listening to the smaller fanbase that sings their praises when we speak of the Droid.

I sincerely hope someone will care, but I am not without doubt my friend.

Sent from my GimpDroid (Installed by RZR).

PC, i replied. But i have to say, i really dont like the direction this is turning. It have went from a very directed attack on bloatware to a full on assult at BLUR, Bootloader, And bloatware. I truly dont think that we will get anywhere by going after all that. The more stuff you attack the more your post is going to be just thrown out in the minds of motorola. It is far easier to break off a leaf or a branch than it is the whole tree if you know what i mean. PC, your resources are very limited dont you think? At most well get like 100 users to go and reply to that thread (that being very generous) and do you really think spreading out the forces is really wise? I think if you go back to just a direct remove Bloatware assult then youll get more attention by motorola. In a way to describe this, look at DF for example. If a user really hated the iPhone section and wanted it removed, but he also doesnt like the fact that motorola xoom has a section becuase its a tablet. Do you think it would be wise for him to get his 100 friends to complain about just the iPhone section or the iPhone and xoom section? Spreading out your few resources isn't good unless you actually have a chance. Im pretty sure the admin would read the complaint and go, that guys just a hater, ignore him. Its the same with Moto. Lets be strategic and hope its enough to get bloatware out of system folder. If attack everything, i dout wed get anything we hoped..... At least this is coming from my mind. Hope it makes sense. :icon_eek:

You are right the original fight was bloatware and I am getting these two fights blurred together, no pun intended. I am going to separate the 2 now I will open another thread for the fight on blur here. And I will open a thread there for JUST the fight against bloatware. I will keep them separate and make them two different arguments. My apologies and thanks for pointing that out.

Those who made a call to motorola be on the look out for a possible survey, makes sure to fill it out.

Not to be a debbie downer, but this community (the active part at least) is probably 1% or less of total droid users. A handful of complaints to the manufacturers isn't going to matter much to them when millions of other buyers don't care about having preloaded apps.

Rooted or not, the "bloatware" only impacts me in so far as it takes up ram (much less of an issue with storing apps on the SD or non-ram internal memory). Of course, much of the bloatware seems incapable of being moved to SD.

Just like I don't get the obsession with the app drawer. Once I started getting a good number of apps the app drawer became too inefficient a method of organization and I just organized things into folders on one homescreen as an alternative. The bloatware is out of sight, out of mind.

i know this was a year ago but i totally agree with you. they dont do much and they are not really in the way of anything

Not quite a year ago, but I agree that bloatware is just in the way, but the company is only thinking about making a buck. Make your buck and allow us to remove the bloat or atleast leave the bootloader unlocked.

Online support was already closed so I sent the following email:

Would like to ask for a reason why you can't install the useless apps from Verizon and Motorola? Why do you have to tell me what I have to have on a phone that I am supposed to own?

I would simply like to go on record to voice my distaste for all of those junk applications that I will NEVER use. I absolutely love my Droid X, but would be so much better if you gave the consumer the right to choose weather or not to keep the pre-installed junkware polluting the internal storage of my locked down smartphone.
The open policy of Android to promote giving consumers choice is why Android has such a rapidly growing fanbase. What your company is achieving is not progressive, and in my view morally wrong. Taking a solid os like Android and causing your phone to not function if you uninstall apps you didn't want or need in the first place, will only drive people away and lead them to purchase from the darkside aka Apple.
