Tired of complaining about the Pre-Loaded Apps? See how to take action today!!

Just thinking out loud and sorry if someone mentioned this in the months since this thread started, but directing complaints to Moto doesn't seem to be doing anything. You already have their phone, what do they care? You would hope that they'd see that you will buy another phone before long but companies can be pretty stupid as we all know.

It seems to me that the point of attack on this issue is through Google. Google is desperate to promote android, and now here comes the VZW iphone. If you let google know that you intend to buy an iphone because of all the bloatware, they might listen and put some pressure back on Moto and the rest that will actually do something. Just a thought.

Google is not going to force anyone to do anything with Android, they are not "desperate" at all. They just took the #1 spot on the planet. I hope nobody expected this thread and our efforts to make anything happen fast, it will take months and years.

^ that is true it is not gonna happen over night. Like I said before, it will require us to stay on it and tell out buddies to stay on it. But even that MAY get to the meeting with the decision makers. Google is in a tough situation they can not preach openness and then dictate to phone manufactures and carriers how they should run their business. The number 1 decision maker in anything is the money. If manufacturers think the could lose money because of preloaded apps then they will make a move. But I just saw a video of att inspire and it ia just as loaded with preloaded apps as vzw device so manufacturers are doing that for a reason. Hopefully vzw atleast push to allow us to remove them, if not then it will be very important for me to buy a device that can be rooted so I remove the bloat myself.

I just attempted it and get the run around. They flip me from one
screen to the next and never where I need to go, kinda like a
politician, if you ask me.

No offense but instead of everyone telling them not to do this can people tell them to unlock the bootloader, protest on that =P

Did my part. Damn you Moto and VZW! Ignore the name I used lol. I just put a random name.

Dealbert M: Hi, my name is Dealbert M. How may I help you?
Dealbert M: Are you still there? We have noticed that you have been "idle" for 2 minutes, if no response is sent within the next minute this chat session could be terminated.

Charlie Applebottom: Sorry.
Charlie Applebottom: I am here.
Dealbert M: How are you?
Charlie Applebottom: I am fine, yourself?
Dealbert M: Same here.
Dealbert M: How can I assist you?
Charlie Applebottom: I was wonder why Motorola and Verizon force the users to have the bloate applications that slow down the devices?
Charlie Applebottom: It is very ignorant to include these applications that will slow down the devices while the Verizon iPhone does not have the issues with these applictions.
Dealbert M: I do apologize for that one.
Dealbert M: Motorola will not put applications in the phone that will cause it to slow down.
Dealbert M: Since when did this issue started happening?
Charlie Applebottom: It has happened for months now. For the X, 2, Pro, and others. Many people find this to be very annoying, and it is even worse how you are denying the fact that there are not applications that slow down the phone. My droid2 came with Blockbuster, Kindle, NFS and others. I don't use Blockbuster, I use Netflix. I rarely read, and I don't like Need For Speed. Many people feel the same way.
Charlie Applebottom: To include these applications and force the user to have to deal with these unwanted applications is ignorant.
Dealbert M: My deepest apologies. If you want you can send the phone for evaluation here in Motorola.
Charlie Applebottom: I do not want to do that. This isn't just my device. This is the issue for several devices. I request that this conversation is set to a higher department so they can understand how enraged the users are with this bloateware forced upon us.
Dealbert M: Sure, I will escalate this issue to the proper department. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions.
Charlie Applebottom: Thank you.
Dealbert M: Is there anything else?
Charlie Applebottom: No that is it.

Well guys, The xoom isnt locked down and its got no blur. Haha at least we got a pure device. Im sure their will still be bolatware on it though. :(

It's unlockable. Not unlocked. Big difference.

This came from my brain by way of my finger and my phone. Don't ask where any of them have been. Especially the brain.

Reymer: Hi, my name is Reymer. How may I help you?
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: yes hi how are you
chat_agent.png
Reymer: I am doing good.
chat_agent.png
Reymer: How about you?
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: i am good, i am writing to you today to talk to you about a concern of mine and I wanted to voice my opinion
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: The issue is with the pre-loaded applications that your company is putting on cell phones. The ones that are un-deletable by the end-user.
chat_agent.png
Reymer: Yes, I understand.
chat_agent.png
Reymer: What about them?
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: If they were deletable that would be fine, but the company is making it so I cant remove it which means it is tieing up valueable resources that my phone could be using for applications that I WANT to use.
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: Apple refuses to do it to their phones, and I think if your company wants to stay competitive in the market you should take note.
chat_agent.png
Reymer: I am sorry to know that.
chat_agent.png
Reymer: What is the model of your phone?
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: Motorola Droid 2
chat_agent.png
Reymer: Yes, while it is true that we cannot remove preloaded applications from the phone, what I can do for now is save this conversation so we can raise your suggestion.
chat_agent.png
Reymer: I am sorry but right now, there is no way for us to delete them.
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: I would love that. another prime example, is that for instance the blockbuster app that is pre-loaded onto my phone... there is an update for it, but I dont use it so I constantly get a reminder there is an update for it. Its like selling me a car with mud tires, and i go to the dealership to tell them i want normal tires so I can save on gas and they say nope, sorry you are stuck with those tires. We bought our phones we should have control of what applications are on our phones.
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: thank you so much for listening!
chat_agent.png
Reymer: I understand and I thank you for your honest feedback.
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: :) your welcome, please dont make me go to the iPhone! I hate apple, but this pre-loaded business has got to stop or i will!
chat_enduser_message.png
Chaz Campton: Bye reymer :)

You have disconnected.

I think the best course of action for this, is not to complain to vzw or the manufacturer, but contact your senator or congressman. When you buy a pc you can effectively remove this crapware. When it comes to a phone that we paid for and is ours outright, we should have the choice to remove the software if we don't want it there. To add to this when you buy a pc you are already an administrator onbthe machine. Why is this not made possible on these phones and why should we have to root them to get the administrative rights. The other thing that tickles my goat is the fact that rooting your phone voids the warranty, but is the only way to get the crap off WE don't want.

I think it is very bad business practice for the provider and the manufacturer to force you into somftware that you don't want or will never use. Then for them to turn around and say live with it and you can remove it if you want, but by doing so effectively voiding the warranty.

I know I will be writing to my congressman or senator to let them know my thoughts. If they have enough constituents complaining, the strong arm of the government will.come down on these companies. The.companies can care less if you complain and don't care about the "customer" anymore. The only thing they care about.is their bottom line. Even if all of us here decided we wil not buy from them anymore will amount to nothing as there is some idiot that will always come along and buy their bloated phone. Its just the way it works!

While in theory you are correct. In reality they dont listen to the voters on important issues that the country was screaming at them about, they wont care if there is an app you dont want on your phone. You will get a nice polite letter from their secretary saying they will look into it. then thats the end of the story.
