Here is an Alpha, unofficial release of Squidly's ROM for the D2G.

Known Issues:
All sensors are disabled, they function fine when enabled, but when the phone sleeps it goes dark for 20 or so seconds, shows the boot animation, and re-initializes. It will continue to do this until the sensors are disabled, thus there are currently no sensors (no light sensor unfortunately means no lights on the keyboard or touch buttons).
Possible Issues that remain untested:
The status of GSM is unknown, being in the States, I have no way to test the GSM modes. If I dial *#*#4636#*#* I get to the testing mode and can enable/disable GSM modes, however they do not show up under the normal settings menu (presumably because D2 settings don't include it). We may need to include the stock GlobalNwSwitch.apk to get it working (but it may take much more than that, I don't know).
Basic functionality that does work:
Cellular signal
3G data
Wifi
Camera and Video
Installation Instructions:
1. Download D2G_Squidley.zip from
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
2. Using Droid 2 Bootstrapper, boot into Clockwork Recovery.
3. Wipe System and Data, just to be safe.
4. Select install zip from Sdcard, navigate to and install D2G_Squidly.zip
There is a known issue which causes a soft reset at sleep/wake. This is somehow related to the sensors. In this particular rom, the sensors are enabled by default. Feel free to mess around with it, but if you let it sleep, it will (after a few seconds) jump to the boot animation and eventually reload android. To fix this issue, you'll need to disable the sensors.
This can be done manually in terminal or root explorer by renaming /system/lib/hw/sensors.droid2we.so to sensors.droid2we.bak and then rebooting.
Alternatively, I have made an update.zip to activate and deactivate the sensors. Flash it through Clockwork Recovery (DO NOT WIPE SYSTEM OR DATA WHEN FLASHING THE SENSORS UPDATE). Download D2G_Sensors.zip

Now obviously having no sensors is not exactly ideal, however I figured a rom without sensors is better than no rom options at all and...The experience really isn't that bad without sensors, to get to landscape mode, just pop out the keyboard.
At this time, I believe the sensors are somehow tied to the framework's files, if anybody has any ideas on fixing this reboot issue please let us know.

All my scripts are in terminal and also by Gscript now (thanks to Pinkventure for an awesome app).
If you do not get the all the scripts in gscripts,type gscripts in terminal to install them. The original download said install battery manager in gscripts it is backup manager its fixed now.It works just a minor annoyance.

verizon gave me a new one the droid 2 global and didn't wait a day to root it w z4root and my first custom rom till to day is fission great rom by way two thumbs up and yes i was waiting for squidly to jump on d2g but i just gonna wait till gets officially proof by our testers and devs for the mean time ima gonna wait for the fission update.
