[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

Rev posting that build in his current situation is pretty impressive...those of you who haven't donated to Rev at this point, and can afford a few dollars, should consider thanking him w/a small donation. Doesn't have to be much, $5, whatever, but it is a nice way to show you appreciate his loyalty and work for us. :)

Here's his donate link:

[DEV_THREAD]Droid 2 CM7 with Gingerbread Kernel

I totally concur !

If you don't want to buy Droid Root Explorer (and I believe anyone who is rooted and ROMing should buy it!) then you can also try Astro file manager...support the devs, and if you get a chance to try Root Explorer and like it, buy it!

So after a little bit of testing, the file was indeed bad, which is odd because it still passed md5sum, even when I ran it on the SD card. In any event, after switching from my Linux box to my Windows one, I got the ROM zip file (long tangent here, when I tried to download the google-apps zip file on my Windows box, that one was bad, the one I had downloaded earlier on my Linux box was fine, really weird! Normally I would suspect bad RAM, but on both machines at the same time?!).

Now I am happily flashed on CM7-GB, and wow this is amazing. Too bad I did this with the 9/08 release before discovering there's a 9/15 release. :P Oh well, I think I will try to do this again from scratch, just for consistency and practice.
Question, do I have to SBF back to Froyo or is there an SBF available for the OTA GB?

I just feel like I owe a bunch of donations to people. The donate link on the OP doesn't work for RevNumbers, is there an updated one? Is there a donation link for Cyanogen, or is purchasing ROM Manager enough?

Sounds like a fun sleigh ride... :)

Thanks for pointing out the bad donate link.

The Donate button in Rev's post here works - here's an updated Donate link:

If you flash the 9/15 build, remember to reapply the market fix if you're missing apps in the market...attached. It's not actually a zip, just rename to remove the ".zip" at the end and install and then run (app name in app tray is "Market Fix."

I've added this step to the install instructions in the OP, as well as the file - if you see posts from folks asking about missing apps in the market, please point them there...

So far everything is a go on this build...Haven't gotten a call yet for checking the dsp fc(which seems to be my main quirk) but hey I'm ok and know that a simple data wipe and all will prolly fix....btw, anyone else do cell phone repair besides me? I already have bionics to fix and CAN'T get the screens or flex cables or speakers lol (nothing) and I know it takes a minute..but this phone must be brittle as hell as I've never had so many dang orders!! Gonna be a disaster if I can't get these parts at least ordered within the next couple days...:-(

One Epic Blue and Bold Cm7(otaGBK) .----->fastforward!

All is running well on the new build. Everything is always running well on this rom!

My d2 is much, much smarter than me.
